Hope in YOUth (HIY) was born following the catastrophic event that took place on August 4th 2021. HIY’s founder, Anthony Karam, was severely injured by the explosion and what he had experienced forced him to consider two options: leaving the country forever or staying in Lebanon and trying to make the country a better place for people to live by providing free and accessible education.
Anthony decided that education was a high priority for the country, since it is the only sector which supports the development of people’s skills and knowledge to improve their own situation and increase their awareness of others around them. Without education, people and the wider country remains limited. With access to this sector, people can better themselves and in turn support others around them to improve the country.
HIY aims to address the challenge people face in accessing education through the provision of free online education covering various theoretical and practical subjects. Initially, HIY seeks to prioritize online classes focusing on subjects which can aid people’s ability to secure future education or the ability to generate an income, such as, languages, sciences, and tertiary and vocational education. HIY believes that education is essential for people to be able to secure a sustainable income to cover the essential needs of their families.
HIY’s mission is to empower people in Lebanon by improving access to education through the provision of free online classes, focusing on languages, tertiary and vocational training and a range of other subjects.
HIY’s vision is for everyone in Lebanon to be able to access free education from anywhere.
